More Icarus or Hestia?

If I had to decide right now whether I’m on the longing side or the belonging side of the spectrum I would like to place myself on the belonging side. The reason I feel this way is because I feel more comfortable associating myself with the more humble, plain, kickback homebody Hestia rather than the wandering, adventurous, thrill seeking Icarus. I know I’m happy being a homebody. I love my life, family, friends, pets, hometown, house, bed, couch, television, and computer. With that said I have no real reason tobe ke the never satisfied Icarus who had an unquenchable thirst for more.

            I’m not the type of person who has to travel to every continent on the planet before they die. The way I feel damn near everything I need is right here in California.  I don’t need white sanded beaches with crystal blue water. I can easily settle for Morro Bay. I don’t need the Himalaya Mountains. I’m absolutely fine with the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I really don’t need to see the Great Pyramids. I’m happy learning about them from the safety of my home. I surely don’t need to fish the Amazon I’m totallyhappy canal fishing back home with friends.

I’m pretty much a real simple person who tries to play it fairly safe. I do have those times when I work up that liquid courage and do things that I shouldn’t do. When that happens I tell myself the next day to chill out and I thank God I’m not hurt, dead, or in jail. I have no intentions to ever jump out of a plane, jump off a mountain, play Russian roulette, swim with sharks, wrestle with alligators or even run a red light.

What is important to me is the time that I have with my close loved ones. It’s just not as fun doing things without them. I have a really big family and a whole lot of friends who are really close to me. Don’t get me wrong the friends that I have met in the four years that I have been off to college will be lifelong friends. Call me different, weird or normal but the bottom line is I’m just really happy being a homebody surrounded by loved ones.
